The ESTILSMUSIC Story

From a bedroom to one of the largest and most successful pro-audio companies in the continent

It all started in 1999 in my bedroom in a rural hospital house at Hlabisa,KwaZulu Natal,South Africa and I would have never thought that themy bedroom would develop into one of the largest and most successful pro-audio companies in the world. But whenever you celebrate you have to remember the people who have helped you get there as success is always a team effort.First and foremost I would like to thank our employees,my family who are all the most phenomenal, dedicated and passionate people I have ever met in my life. Many of our employees  have stayed with us for over 6 years and my heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of our 15 people. Thank you guys and let’s make this an even better place. The best is yet to come. :)

But I also want to thank You, our customer. You are the most important part of our Company and I want to thank you for supporting us for all these years. By buying our products you have not only helped us build this Company but also enabled other musicians to acquire affordable equipment. You are the real reason for ESTILSMUSIC`s success and hence it is my personal goal to build an even closer relationship with you.

How Did it All Start?

I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little history with you. I was born 1967 in Kwa-Mashu,one of the biggest townships in Durban, one of the biggest city in South Africa ,KwaZulu Natal Province. I grew up in a musical family where my late father taught us to play the piano at the age of 12. His motivational skills were pretty impressive as he figured out that we would practice harder if he would take us for a ride in his vw kombi for each scale we played on the  piano. Later we upgraded to driving lessons for each scale. Our piano teacher also taught us to fix things like radio, electric iron, electric stove and also vehicle repairing. He was also a business minded man who helped a lot of businesses to be registered in Durban.I sucked all the information I could get from my dad and this helped me to be trusted with electronics and electrical appliance repairs. This all lead to me thinking of opening this business.. My father was a house plan drawer and had his own construction registered business which earned him the nick name,'Ndongeni' (meaning wallman) who built the built a lot of classy houses and did extentions for most people across all Durban Townships in the sixties. In my early years I repaired basically anything from coffee makers to TV sets in our neighborhood and established a pretty professional repair shop in my bedroom; though my mother was not too excited about the solder residue that got burnt into the carpet. Later I stepped up to build my own petrol engine propelled four wheel scooter. After my high school years I started disc-jockeying in the Durban`s tertiary institutions gigs.Over a period of one year I gained a lot of sound engineering experience which graduated me to what I know best today .

In 2015 I have decided to pass the rein to my big son,Sabelo Keith 'Sabza-Jr" Mpunzana whom I have trained to follow my steps in music and pro-audio expertise .He is a young DJ and currently studying a three year course in Music Technology & Sound Engineering at Creative Arts College ,commonly known as South African Film Institute, in Durban South Africa. Sabelo will be taking over directorship of my entertainment company Emedotartist Events and the Estilsmusic pro-audio company.
